| Alpaca fleece in it’s natural state.
Once a year, Alpaca’s are shorn and typically produce 5 to 8 pounds of raw fleece. There are three grades to their fleece. Grade 1 (the best) consist of the blanket, Grade 2 consist of the neck and legs and Grade 3 all remaining fleece.
Fleece can be used for many things. Typically Grade 1 is used for spinning to create yarns. Fleece can be felted to produce clothing articles and Grade 3 can be used for stuffing quilts and produced into rugs. The possibilities are endless.
